In such dust separators, the insulators (2, 5) carrying the electrodes (4) become dirty. Because of the electrical conductivity of the dirt, the insulators (2,5) must be cleaned from time to time. This cleaning is carried out by burning off the dirt using arcs, which are maintained with a high-frequency pulsating DC voltage. The invention is also suitable for soot separation in the exhaust line of a diesel engine. |
