The device generates an optical image on an array of photo sensors (17) by means of an illumination device (12-14) and optics (16) from the card fleece (1). If the sensor area is sufficiently small, the time course of the lighting intensity caused by nits is characteristic of these and serves to identify them. The nits are not removed, but their frequency indicates possible defects in the card or the upstream machines for fiber dissolution. |
