The object of the invention is to present both an increased performance in speed reduction, and better fidelity to the configuration of an HD source image.n n n According to the invention, the method is intended to apply to a multiprocessing system, in which one determines (41), within the image or blocks of the image, image elements capable of accepting indifferently at least two separate subsampling treatments; and one chooses (43) to associate with each of said image elements with indifferent processing, that of said indifferent processing allowing an optimal reduction in throughput of the assistance data.n n n A preferred application is the compression of HDTV images by transmission by MAC channel. |
