Compounds of formula (I):n wherein R¹ is hydrogen or an amino protecting group and R is a group CHR a OCOR b , wherein R a is hydrogen, C₁₋₆ alkyl, C₃₋₇ cycloalkyl or phenyl, and R b is C₁₋₆ alkyl, C₁₋₆ alkoxy, phenyl optionally substituted with -NHCOCHR c NH₂, benzyl, C₃₋₇ cycloalkyl, or C₁₋₆ alkyl C₃₋₇ cycloalkyl; or R a and R b together form a 1,2-phenylene group optionally substituted by one or two methoxy groups,wherein R c represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, are disclosed, having antibacterial properties. |
