titleOfInvention Process for applying matter to expanded starchcontaining products
abstract The invention relates to a method and apparatus for applying substances to expanded starchy products, which can be used in the food industry. In particular in the production of the starchy products known as snacks, the method according to the invention can be used to apply seasonings or other substances.n n n Immediately after the expansion, the expanded starch-containing product is placed in a reaction space in which it is exposed to the earth's gravity or a centrifugal force field. A gas-steam mixture flows into the reaction chamber at a high speed, approximately perpendicular to the direction of action of the force field. Together with the gas-steam mixture, the substances to be applied to the surface of the expanded starch-containing product are introduced into the reaction space. In the expansion space, a velocity component is imposed on the gas-steam flow that opposes the direction of the force field.
