abstract A sleeve (M) is previously fixed in a tube (T) which had been crimped in the tube plate (P) of a steam generator of a pressurized water nuclear power station and which has deteriorated. A welding light beam is supplied by a YAG laser and led by an optical fiber (F) to an optical cell (30, 37) which focuses it on the sleeve to perform the welding and which rotates around the fiber to produce a circular cord. The fiber can slide axially to improve focusing with the help of an adjustment beam which is provided by a helium-neon laser and which traverses the optical fiber in both directions.
