titleOfInvention Mixing plate for injection molding machine
abstract A mixing plate apparatus for use in a conventional reaction injection molding mixing head (12). The injection molding mixing head has a metering valve system to produce a chemically reactive of at least two fluid reactant streams which are metered into a mixing chamber within the mixing head through an orifice over which is disposed a mixing plate (70) composed of a multi-portal grate. The plate is composed of a plurality of apertures symmetrically disposed thereon. The plate introduces turbulence into the fluid stream as each stream is introduced into the mixing chamber to ensure more efficient mixing with the other fluid stream(s). The reacting mixture is then ejected from the mixing chamber into a desired mold cavity.
