titleOfInvention MOLDING COMPOUND AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH A COMPOUND.
abstract The process described, which is used to manufacture a molding compound for the production of fiber-reinforced plastic articles, uses a prepreg material from scrap, such as carbon, aramid or other fibrous material pre -impregnated with a thermosetting plastic material in a partially vulcanized state. The material from scrap, which can be in the form of a fabric of woven or unidirectional fibers or of tows or braids of fibers, is cooled to a temperature of at least -50 ° C and ground at low temperature to form fragments of the fiber / plastic mixture in which the average length of the filaments is preferably between 1 and 2 mm. These fragments retain essentially the same proportions between fibers and plastic base as the original material and can be used in a molding process of alkyd plastic intended to produce plastic articles reinforced with isotropic fibers of complex shape.
