abstract | A composition comprising a halopolymer and effective stabilizing amount of a phenolic complex of the formula:n n wherein at least one of R₁, R₂, R₃, R₄, and R₅ is -OH, and wherein the remaining R₁ through R₅ is hydrogen or an aliphatic hydrocarbon, and wherein each of R₁ through R₅ may be the same or different provided that at least one of R₁ through R₅ is -OH, and each of R₆ and R₇ is an alkylene group having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, and each of R₆ and R₇ may be the same or different. The composition may further include a phosphite, and/or a thioester or sulfide compound. Such compositions show improved melt stability at high temperatures and are useful as wire and cable coatings, films, and pipes. |
