titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for the determination of glycosylated protein
abstract A photometer is used to take readings for a blood sample in buffer solution prior to the sample coming into contact with a cartridge (12) containing phenylboronic acid (READ 1) and after coming into contact with that cartridge (READ 2). The percentage of glycosylated protein (% GP) in the sample may then be derived from the following equation: (% GP READ 1 - READ 2) / READ 1 x 100. The sample may be urged through the cartridge or the cartridge may be submerged in the sample. The glycosylated protein content may alternatively be examined electrochemically or enthalpiometrically.
