abstract A new structure is described for the microwave cooking of consumer foodstuffs. The structure includes a layer (22) of a flexible electrically conductive material which is normally opaque to microwave radiation and which is traversed by a plurality of elongated apertures (24) sized to allow microwaves to penetrate to inside the food and to produce heat energy on the surface of the food. Both a microwave shielding effect and a dual effect of heating by microwaves and thermal energy can thus be obtained, which allows close adjustment of the type and extent of microwave cooking. wanted waves.
