Synthetic gases are prepared from methane and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst containing ruthenium and/or rhodium as an active ingredient and, as needed, cobalt and/or manganese as a promoter, deposited on zirconia and/or stabilized zirconia. The process for the preparation of the synthetic gases can provide carbon monoxide and hydrogen at higher rates of selectivity and produce a lesser amount of by-products, at lower costs and with high efficiency. The process little causes pollution. |
