Disclosed are lubricating compositions having improved wear and oxidation properties. The improved compositions contain multifunctional additives prepared by reacting 2,5-dimercapto- 1,3,4-thiadiazole, aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde and aromatic amine in the molar ratio of 1:1:1 to 2:4:3. The 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole may be substituted in the 2-position by hydrocarbyl, terpene residue, polymeric alpha-olefin and succinate residues. |
