titleOfInvention Travel sensor
abstract The proposal is for a travel sensor (10), the plunger (11) of which consists of a good electrically conductive but non-ferromagnetic material. The plunger (11) fits into a measuring coil (15) through which flows an alternating current. The travel sensor is also surrounded by a screening sleeve (16) of ferromagnetic material. Owing to the interaction between the magnetic field, the a.c. coil (15) and the two materials, it is possible, at a predetermined a.c. frequency and with a given volume of the plunger (11) or the screening sleeve (16), to compensate the effect of the temperature in such a way that the measurement curves of the travel sensor (10) run substantially parallel over the entire range of measurement at different temperatures.
