A ceramic structure is proposed which has improved material properties, such as an adhesiveness with a sealant at both room and high temperatures and improved durability and comprises an assembly formed by binding a plurality of ceramic members (2 and 3) each having a plurality of through holes provided parallel to each other in the longitudinal direction, the end face of each through hole being sealed so as to form a chequerwise pattern and so that the opening and closing for the gas inlet side are opposite to the opening and closing for the gas outlet side, adjacent through holes being communicable with each other through a porous partition wall, characterized in that a sealant (4) of an elastic material comprising at least inorganic fibers, an inorganic binder, an organic binder, and inorganic particles, the inorganic fibers and the inorganic particles being interlaced in a three-dimensional manner through the inorganic binder and the organic binder, is interposed between the ceramic members (2 and 3) to integrally bond the plurality of ceramic members (2 and 3) to each other. |
