A waste heat treatmentnapparatus comprising a thermalndecomposition furnace (30) providednwith a gas outlet (31),na waste charge port (35) havingnan opening and closing doorn(34), and an openable hearthn(33), and a combustion furnacen(41) shaped to surround the thermalndecomposition furnace andnhaving a combustion apparatusn(47) which uses at least one ofna fuel from a fuel supply apparatusnand a carbonized gas fromnthe gas outlet. The combustionnfurnace has a double constructionnsuch that a peripheral walln(30a) of the thermal decompositionnfurnace and an intermediatenwall (42) define a combustionnpassage (43), the intermediatenwall and an outer walln(44) define a dilution air passagen(45), the combustion apparatusnis connected on an upstream sidenthereof to a combustion air supplynpipe (48a) and on a downstreamnside thereof to an exhaustnpassage (50), and the dilution airnpassage is connected on an upstreamnside thereof to a dilutionnair supply pipe (48b) and is connectednto the combustion passage. |
