Disclosed is a battery comprising a positivenelectrode comprising a cathode active material layer, annegative electrode comprising an anode active materialnlayer, and a porous separator disposed between thenpositive electrode and the negative electrode, whereinnthe positive electrode, the negative electrode and thenseparator are disposed in a casing containing an electrolyte,nand wherein the porous separator comprises atnleast one layer of an aggregate form of particles of atnleast one insulating substance, the layer of the aggregatenform of particles having a three-dimensionalnnetwork of voids which function as pores of the porousnseparator and which are capable of passing ions therethrough.nThe battery of the present invention isnadvantageous not only in that the battery exhibitsnexcellent discharge characteristics even at a highndischarge current density without sacrificing safety,nbut also in that a large amount of active materials cannbe accommodated in the battery per unit volume thereof,nas compared to the amounts in the case of conventionalnbatteries, so that the battery can exhibit a highnperformance. |
