abstract |
A method of manufacturing multi-ply tubularncontainers for food products is provided including thensteps of advancing a continuous body ply formed ofnpaperboard towards a shaping mandrel and advancing ancontinuous polymeric liner ply adjacent to one surfacenof the paperboard body ply. The polymeric liner plynincludes a moisture barrier layer and an adhesive layerndefining one surface of the liner ply, wherein thenadhesive layer includes a polymeric adhesive which isnactivated at a predetermined activation temperature.nThe body ply is heated to a temperature above thenactivation temperature of the adhesive, and the bodynply and the liner ply are then passed in face-to-facencontact through a nip to adhere the liner ply to thenbody ply. The body ply and liner ply are then wrappednaround a shaping mandrel to create the tubularncontainer. Accordingly, an advantageous tubularncontainer can be manufactured having an unsupported andnpolymeric liner ply which is adhered to a body plynwithout the application of any separate adhesives. |
