titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of alkali or alkaline-earth metal cyanide granulates and the obtained high purity alkali metal cyanide granulates
abstract The invention relates to a method for directnProduction of alkali cyanide and alkaline earth cyanide granulesnfrom a gas containing HCN and onenaqueous solution or suspension of an alkali ornAlkaline earth hydroxide.n n n The reaction takes place in a reactor for fluidized bed spray granulation, nbeing a solution or suspension of thenSprayed hydroxide on germs of the cyanide to be producednand at the same time a hydrogen cyanide to the reactorncontaining gas and water by means of anFluidizing gas is evaporated.n n n The preferred fluidizing gas is water vapor. ThenReaction gases from a BMA or Andrussow process cannquenched with water and the gas mixture asnFluidizing gas can be used.n n n Using a CO 2 -free HCN-containing gas, alkali metal cyanide granules with an outstanding combination of properties, including an alkali metal carbonate and alkali metal formate content of less than 0.4% by weight, are available.
