abstract |
A method for introducing gas into a liquid whereinna gas stream is ejected from a lance spaced above thenliquid surface and directed from the lance onto thenliquid surface. The gas retains substantially all itsnoriginal jet axis velocity when it contacts the liquidnsurface, and substantially all of the gas penetratesnthe liquid surface and is introduced into the liquid.nPreferably the gas stream is surrounded by a flamenenvelope running from the lance to the liquid surface,nwhich shields the gas from ambient gas entrainment.nThe gas stream preferably forms a gas cavity within thenliquid having a diameter substantially the same as thendiameter of the gas stream as it is ejected from thenlance. |
