A method of depositing a silicon oxide coating on a hot glass substrate by chemicalnvapour deposition which comprises contacting the substrate with a silane and a phosphorusnester or a boron ester. The phosphorus ester may be a trialkylphosphite, especiallyntriethylphosphite, and the boron ester may be a trialkylborate. The coating may be depositednon the glass substrate during formation of the glass substrate as a glass ribbon by the float glassnproduction process. |
