abstract The invention relates to copolymers of lower olefins and vinyl esters, containing a) 85 to 97 mol% of bivalent structural units of the formula 1 -CH2-CR <1> R <2> - in which R <1> and R <2> independently of one another are hydrogen or mean methyl, and b) at least 3 mol% of bivalent structural units of the formula 2 <IMAGE> in which R <3> is saturated, branched C6-C16-alkyl which has a tertiary carbon atom, characterized in that R <3> with its tertiary carbon atom is bound to the carboxyl function. The copolymers according to the invention are used as flow improvers for mineral oil distillates.
