The invention relates to novel acetals of the general formula R3CO-X-O-C(R1R2)-O-Y-COR4, in which R1, R2 independently of each other are hydrogen, a C¿1?-C12 alkyl radical, a C6-C12 aryl radical or a C7-C12 aralkyl radical; X, Y independently of each other are a branched or unbranched C1-C30 alkylene radical or a branched or unbranched C2-C30 alkylene radical; R?3, R4¿ independently of each other are -OH, -OM, -OR5, -NH2, -NHR?6 or -NR7R8¿, -M being an alkaline ion, an alkaline earth ion or an ammonium ion of the formula HN?+R9R10R11¿ or mixtures thereof, R?9 to R11¿ independently of each other being hydrogen, a C¿1?-C10 alkyl or a C1-C10 hydroxyalkyl, and R?5 to R8¿ independently of each other being a C¿1?-C200 alkyl radical, a C6-C50 aryl radical or a C7-C50 aralkyl radical, and R?5 to R8¿ possibly being substituted with heteroatoms or interrupted by heteroatoms, and R?7 and R8¿ possibly jointly forming a ring of 4 to 10 atoms. Said novel acetals are suitable as base oils for metal working liquids. |
