abstract The liner (1) is intended to be fixed inside an article of footwear to act as an inner lining. It is produced by assembling a flexible rod (2) impermeable to water but permeable to water vapor and a flexible sole (3) made of a material permeable to liquids, and furthermore comprises an external coating. (12) waterproof, which covers the sole and only the lower part of the upper over its entire periphery, and which gives the covered parts sufficient rigidity to keep them in shape while retaining a certain flexibility. Preferably, the waterproof stiffening coating (12) is produced by impregnating the liner with a liquid or semi-liquid material, which after drying solidifies in the form of a flexible and waterproof layer.
