A biphenyl derivative represented by the following general formulan(1) and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:n n[In the formula (1), A represents a single bond, -CH 2 -, -CO-, -CS- or -SO 2 -; Bnrepresents a single bond or -CH 2 -; R 1 represents a hydrogen atom, -OH,n-NR 11 R 12 (wherein R 11 and R 12 each independently represents a hydrogennatom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms), -OCOCH 3 , or a halogennatom; R 2 represents a hydrogen atom or R 1 and R 2 form a group =O together;nR 3 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbonnatoms; provided that in the formula, the absolute configuration of thenposition a may be either R or S].
