It provide a catalyst for the production of epoxides byna vapor-phase oxidation of an unsaturated hydrocarbon havingna chain length of 4 - 20 carbon atoms and containing nonallylic hydrogen atom, characterized by having a catalyticncomponent containing silver and at least one elementnselected from the group consisting of alkali metals andnthallium deposited onto a carrier obtained by mixing α-aluminanhaving a sodium content in the range of 1 - 70 mmoln(as reduced to Na) per kg of α-alumina with an aluminiumncompound, a silicon compound, and a sodium compound andncalcining the resultant mixture, the carrier having ansilicon content (as reduced to SiO 2 ) in the range of 0.3 -n11.5 mass% based on the mass of the carrier and a sodiumncontent (as reduced to Na 2 O) in the range of 0.11 - 2.5nmass% based on the mass of the carrier. |
