abstract |
In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a photographicnelement is disclosed comprising a silver halide emulsion layer having associatedntherewith an acetanilide-based yellow dye forming coupler and a stabilizerncompound of the formula S-I:n nwherein R 0 represents an unsubstituted or substituted aryl or heterocyclic group;nR a is H or a substituent group; L represents an alkylene linking group and pnrepresents 0 or 1; and R b is a substituent group, provided that substituent groupsnrepresented by R a and R b may be joined to form a ring. The presence of substitutednamine compounds of formula S-I improves the efficiency of dye formationnreaction for acetanilide-based couplers. When used in combination with knownnbis-phenolic stabilizers, substantial improvements in the light stability of thenimage dyes can be also be obtained. Accordingly, photographic elements of thenpresent invention upon exposure and photographic processing exhibit goodnactivity and yield yellow dye images that have low fading when exposed to light. |
