abstract This invention concerns a method for absorbing acrylicnacid, characterized by supplying an acrylic acid-containingnreaction gas component obtained by the reaction of catalyticngas phase oxidation to an acrylic acid absorption column andnadvancing a high boiling inert hydrophobic organic liquidninto counter-flow contact with said reaction gas in saidnacrylic acid absorption column with the mass flow rate ofnthe organic liquid fixed in the range of 0.2 - 4.5 times thenmass flow rate of the acrylic acid in the reaction gas therebynabsorbing acrylic acid in said organic liquid and obtainingnan acrylic acid-containing solution and a method for purifyingnacrylic acid, comprising a step for purifying the acrylicnacid-containing organic liquid obtained by the step mentionednabove. By this invention, a product of acrylic acid containingna low boiling substance at a low concentration can be produced.
