A process for the recovery of rhodium fromnan organic reaction mixture containingnrhodium/phosphite ligand complex, phosphite degradationnproducts and high-boiler organic compounds, whereinn A) the organic reaction mixture is subjected to annaqueous oxidative and/or acidic treatment, resultingnin an aqueous-polar organic two-phase mixture, B) the aqueous phase is removed, C) solution of lipophilic phosphine and/or lipophilicnphosphite in a non-polar solvent is added to thenorganic phase, which solvent is immiscible with thenpolar organic phase, resulting in a two-phasenmixture containing a non-polar organic phase rich innrhodium and lipophilic phosphine and/or lipophilicnphosphite and a polar organic phase rich innphosphite degradation products and high-boilernorganic compounds, or the polar organic phase isnextracted with an immiscible non-polar organicnsolvent, resulting in a two-phase mixture containingna non-polar organic phase rich in phosphitendegradation products and a polar organic phase richnin rhodium, D) the non-polar organic phase is separated from thenpolar organic phase. |
