Process for manufacturing impact resistant monovinylaromatic polymers |
abstract |
The present invention discloses a process for manufacturingnmonovinylaromatic compounds containing an elastomer to providenincreased toughness and strength. One particular embodiment of theninvention discloses a process for manufacturing high impact polystyrenenwherein styrene monomer containing a dissolved polybutadiene rubbernis flowed into an elongated upflow stirred reactor containing threenreaction zones, wherein the styrene and rubber are polymerized past theninversion point, then discharged to at least one additional reactor toncontinue their conversion to polymer. |
