A halogen-free, flame retardant polyester composition is, based on the total composition comprised: (a) from about 55 to about 97 weight percent of a polyester resin or polyester resin blend component; (b) from about 1 to about 20 weight percent of a flame retarding quantity of at least one nitrogen-containing compound, selected from the group of triazine, guanidine, or (iso)cyanurate compounds; (c) from about 1 to about 20 weight percent of a zinc- and/or boron-containing compound, selected from the group of zinc sulphide, zinc borate or boron nitride compounds, and/or combinations thereof; (d) Non-fibrillating Poly(tetrafluoroethylene) in an amount of 0-2 weight percent; (e) from about 1 to about 20 weight percent of a phosphorus-containing compound, wherein the total amount of nitrogen containing compound, zinc- and/or boron-containing compound, non-fibrillating PTFE, and phosphorous-containing compound comprises from about 3 to about 45 weight percent of the total composition. |
