abstract |
By causing the movement of charge from a tonernto a latent image carrier, the amount of charge of thentoner is lowered to an amount of charge suitable fornfacilitating the transfer of toner so as to improve thentransfer efficiency. For this, an image formingnapparatus comprises a latent image carrier (1) and andeveloping means (4) for forming a negatively chargeablentoner layer composed of two stories or less on a tonerncarrier (10) by a toner layer thickness regulating membern(9), wherein an electrostatic latent image on the latentnimage carrier is developed with the toner to form anvisible image and the visible image is transferred tona transfer medium (5), and is characterized in that thenwork function (Φ opc ) of the surface of the latent imagencarrier (1) is set to be larger than the work function (Φ t )nof the toner. |
