The present invention involves thermal management of an integrated emissionnreduction system for the removal of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx)nfrom diesel engine exhaust streams (17). The inventive integrated emission reduction system (10)nmay include a diesel particulate filter (DPF) (70), a heat source (80) for adjusting the temperaturenof the exhaust stream (17) entering the DPF (70), at least one selective catalytic reducer of NOx (60), anheat exchanger (50) for adjusting the temperature of the exhaust stream entering the NOxnreducer (60), and a computing device (100) for monitoring the temperature and/or pressure of thenexhaust stream (17) entering the DPF (70) and the NOx reducer (60), and for controlling the operationnof the heat exchanger (50) and heat source (80), thereby improving the efficiency of the DPF (70) andnthe NOx reducer (60). |
