An image heating apparatus (10) for heating annimage formed on a recording material (S), includes anheating member (30); a flexible member (31) movable in contactnwith the heating member (30); an elastic roller (20) for formingna nip (N) with the heating member (30) with the flexible member (31)ninterposed therebetween; wherein a pressure in the nip (N)nincreases to a maximum peak toward downstreamnsubstantially without decreasing with respect to anmoving direction of the recording material (S), whereinnthe heating member (30) is disposed upstream of the maximumnpeak portion with respect to the moving direction ofnthe recording material (S). |
