abstract The color filter substrate has a functional regionnwhich includes a plurality of colored layers and whichnfunctions as a color filter selectively transmittingnpredetermined color light components and a non-functionalnregion other than the functional region. The methodnincludes discharging, onto a substrate, a liquid material,nin which coloring materials constituting the colored layersnare dissolved or dispersed into a solvent, with a liquidndroplet discharge method. In the discharging of the liquidnmaterial, the liquid material is discharged onto thenfunctional region and the liquid material or the solvent isndischarged onto the non-functional region. The amount ofnthe solvent discharged onto the non-functional region pernunit area is larger than the amount of the solventndischarged onto the functional region per unit area.
