abstract Disclosed are a method for reading data recorded on a burst cutting area (BCA) of an optical disc (100) and an optical disc apparatus applying the method. The method comprises the steps of calculating a first driving voltage for driving a spindle motor (110) corresponding to a speed required to read data from a BCA of the optical disc (100), in a predetermined data area of an optical disc (100) by adjusting the driving voltage of the spindle motor (110), which rotates the optical disc (100). The BCA data is read by controlling the speed of the spindle motor (110) according to the calculated first driving voltage.
