A method is disclosed which provides mobility to a mobile host (MH) in a mobile network employing multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) transport at least in a part of the network. During a handover, the mobile host receives a broadcast message from a new egress node of the MPLS network. It attaches to the new egress node, whereby the egress node leams the MH identifier. The new egress node sends a request message containing the identifier of the MH and its own identifier to one or a plurality of ingress nodes of the MPLS network. Each ingress node checks a mapping table for label switched paths (LSPs) serving the identified MH. If such paths exist, the ingress node initiates the set up of a new LSP to the new egress node for each existing LSP. |
