abstract The present invention relates to a coated article comprising a glass substrate and an anti-etch layer supported by the glass substrate, wherein the anti-etch layer is resistant to at least some fluoride-based glass etchants. Preferably a layer comprising diamond-like carbon (DLC) is provided on the glass substrate over at least the anti-etch layer and the anti-etch layer comprises an oxide of at least one of In, Ce, Mo, Ta, Ni and Cu.
