abstract | The invention describes an optimized method for the cultivation of microorganisms of the genus Thraustochytriales, wherein the microorganisms are cultured in a low salt medium without the addition of sodium salts and chloride salts, with a total salt content of less than 3.5g / L total salts (corresponding to less than 10% seawater salt content) and subsequent isolation of the PUFAs from the microorganisms and / or the medium. In particular, new optimized media are described with significantly reduced total salt content at a particularly reduced NaCl content. A new combination of various salts as a media composition with no more than 1.75 g / L Na + and Cl - ions in the sum of the weights permits to significantly improve and considerably simplify the production of PUFAs. In addition, the medium described is preferably entirely free of sodium and chloride salt additives, which helps to avoid environmental damage from saline wastewater. |
