abstract A sliding door assembly (10) for a refrigerated display case is provided. The sliding door assembly (10) includes a door frame (14) having a top frame segment (18) and a plurality of sliding bearings (50) that slide along channels (38-40) within the top frame segment (18). A plurality of display case doors (12, 13) are coupled to the sliding bearings (50) and configured to slide, along with the sliding bearings (50), between an open position and a closed position. The display case doors (12, 13) may be suspended from the sliding bearings (50). The sliding door assembly may include an automatic closure system coupled to the display case doors (12, 13) and configured to apply a closing force that automatically returns the display case doors (12, 13) to the closed position. One or more magnets (76-78) may apply a magnetic damping force as the display case doors (12, 13) approach the closed position to facilitate a soft closure of the display case doors (12, 13).
