The present disclosure relates to a method of forming a building pane l(10) or a surface element, including providing a substrate (1), applying a sub-layer (2) on the substrate (1), applying a mesh structure (3) on the sub-layer (2), and applying heat and pressure to the mesh structure (3) such that the sub-layer (2) at least partially fills meshes (5) of the mesh structure (3).
