Mutant that shows high production of 1,4-butanediol, which is prepared by introducing or amplifying genes that encode enzymes that convert succinate to 4-hydroxybutyrate and 4-hydroxybutyrate into 1,4-butanediol, in a microorganism capable of producing succinate, in which the A microorganism capable of producing succinate is a bacterium, the gene that encodes the enzyme that converts succinate to 4-hydroxybutyrate is selected from the group consisting of genes that encode succinyl-CoA transferase, succinate dehydrogenase semialdehyde, 4-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase and 4-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase, and the gene that encodes the enzyme that converts 4-hydroxybutyrate into 1,4-butanediol is i) a gene that encodes 4-hydroxybutyrate-CoA transferase and a gene that encodes alcohol dehydrogenase that reduces 4-hydroxybutyrate-CoA; or ii) a gene encoding phosphotransbutyrylase, a gene encoding butyryl kinase and a gene encoding alcoholdehydrogenase that reduces 4-hydroxybutyrate-CoA. |
