titleOfInvention Control procedure of a reverse osmosis water treatment system
abstract Procedure implemented by computer for monitoring the performance of a reverse osmosis membrane in a potable water supply system, carried out the procedure by a computer program, the procedure comprising the steps of: initiating (step 74) a membrane recalibration of Inverse osmosis; determine (step 76) the amount of flow of a predetermined amount of water through the system; measure (step 80) the initial conductivity of the permeate downstream of the reverse osmosis membrane after the predetermined amount of water has flowed through the system; calculate (step 82), using the initial conductivity of the measured permeate (step 80), a predetermined proportion of rejection of total dissolved solids, and calculate from it a threshold trigger point corresponding to said predetermined proportion of rejection of dissolved solids totals, where calculating said threshold trigger point includes: measuring said permeate initial conductivity values; equating an average of said permeate initial conductivity values to said proportion of total dissolved solids rejection, and defining said mean in ninety percent (90%) rejection; and calculate said threshold trigger point at seventy-five percent (75%) of said average; store (step 84) the threshold trigger point in the system memory (54); systematically measure (step 86) the conductivity of the permeate downstream of the reverse osmosis membrane after said flow of said predetermined amount of water has been reached; determine (step 90) if the conductivity of the permeate, measured systematically in the previous stage, is lower than the threshold trigger point; and provide (step 92) an indication after the determination of when the permeate conductivity is lower than the threshold trigger point.
