abstract |
A method for controlling an electric heater (14) in an electrically heated smoking system (100), the method comprising the steps of: providing electric power to the heater (14) in pulses so that during active periods the energy is supplied to the heater (14) and during inactive periods, energy is not supplied to the heater (14); charge a capacitor (52) in an RC circuit (36) during the inactive periods and allow the capacitor (52) to discharge during the active periods; and monitor the capacitor discharge voltage (52) and if the capacitor discharge voltage (52) falls below a threshold voltage level, then stop the electric power supply to the heater (14). |
