abstract Ammonium chloride is obtained from ammonia-soda tower liquor containing sodium and ammonium chlorides by adding NH3 followed by solid NaCl in an amount in excess of that required to saturate the liquor by no more than 5 parts NaCl per 100 parts liquor, cooling, and separating NH4Cl crystals. The liquor may be at 15 DEG -20 DEG C. and cooled to-10 DEG to-12 DEG C., or may be heated to 35 DEG -40 DEG C. before the NaCl addition. The NH4Cl produced contains less than 0,25% NaCl.
