A colon cleansing solution containing PEG for therapeutic use in cleansing the colon of a patient according to an administration guideline comprising the consecutive steps of: a) orally administering 500 to 3,000 ml of a cleansing solution colon containing PEG (VPEG volume) over a period of time t1; and b) orally administer 300 to 1,000 ml of clear fluid (Vcf volume) over a period of time t2, in which the PEG-containing colon cleansing solution is a hypertonic solution comprising 90 g to 150 g per liter. of polyethylene glycol (PEG), 2 to 10 g per liter of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulfate or a mixture of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulfates, 3 to 20 g per liter of ascorbic acid, one or more salts of ascorbic acid or a mixture of ascorbic acid and one or more salts of ascorbic acid, and electrolytes selected from sodium chloride and potassium chloride; the hypertonic solution being a solution with an osmolarity of 330 mOsmol / l or greater; and the transparent fluid being a water-based drink, eg selected from water, lemonade, cola, non-alcoholic soft drinks from concentrated fruit juice, clear fruit juices (eg orange juice or kiwi juice or " fruit juices diluted with water "strained before use). |
