abstract | A method for the removal of asbestos-containing material by heating the asbestos-containing material with microwave energy, the method being characterized by: - mixing (101) shredded asbestos-containing material with glass shells; - heating (102) the shredded asbestos-containing material in a preheating chamber (4) by means of at least one burner (5) fed by liquid fuel or gaseous fuel at a temperature of 900 ° C to 1000 ° C; e - entering the heated asbestos-containing material into a drum (6) with ceramic inner walls and heating the asbestos-containing material therein with microwave energy at a temperature of 1000 ° C to 1200 ° C; - pouring the heated asbestos-containing material into the drum (6) to a cooling chamber (12); - directing a stream of hot gases from the drum (6) through a cyclone (13) to a vertical chamber (14) filled with microwave absorbing ceramic elements, where the microwave absorbing elements are heated by microwave energy at a temperature of 1200 ° C to 1400 ° C. |
