Continuous drying apparatus, comprising: a pair of rotating drums 1101 arranged parallel to the axes of rotation, separated by an adjustable gap 1410, and having a drum roller drive assembly 1200, said pair of rotating drums comprising 1101 : an evaporative surface 1110 to receive a slurry; and at least one heating element 1102; a drum gap adjustment assembly 1400 comprising a built-in load cell and a controller configured to maintain a constant applied pressure between the surfaces of said pair of rotating drums 1101, providing on-line adjustment of said adjustable gap 1410 during operation to control particle size; a pair of scrapers 1301 for removing a dry solid from said evaporative surface 1110 of said rotating drums 1101; a casing 1600 suitable for operation at reduced pressure; a 1610 outlet; and a 1607 grout inlet. |
