abstract | An implantable device (201) for treating elevated ocular pressure within the anterior chamber of the eye, the device comprising: a flexible tube (203); and tissue sealing means, wherein said tube (203) defines a conduit (205) for diverting aqueous humor from the anterior chamber, said tube having a proximal end (207) and a distal end (209) opposite each other. and an outer surface (211) having a first largest cross-sectional dimension, and wherein said tissue sealing means includes at least one member (213A, 213B) that is spaced from said proximal ends (207, 209). and distal of said tube, said at least one element extends radially outwardly beyond said outer surface (211) of said tube and has a second maximum cross-sectional dimension greater than said first maximum cross-sectional dimension, characterized in that said second maximum cross-sectional dimension is defined by at least one blunt surface, wherein said at least one element (213A, 213B) has a tapered distal portion, and wherein: said at least one element includes l first and second tabs (213A, 213B) extending radially from said tube (203) on opposite sides of said tube, said first tab (213A) defining a first outer edge (215A), said second tab (213B) defining a second outer edge (215B), wherein said second maximum cross-sectional dimension is defined by the maximum distance between said first outer edge (215A) and said second outer edge (215B). |
