abstract |
The invention relates to a method and system for monitoring the properties of particles in a stream and to the use of such a method and system. In particular, the invention relates to the sampling and subsequent measurement of liquids, such as aqueous suspensions or filtrates containing solids, in the forest, oil and mining industries, as well as in water purification, desalination or water reuse processes. A sample of the liquid stream is stained to stain the particles contained in the sample, and the sample is passed to a first flow chamber having means for dividing said sample into particle fractions according to size or mass. A fluid flow is passed through the first flow chamber to cause at least one particle section to flow into the second flow chamber. The particle fractions are measured to produce at least one measurement signal representing the number and / or properties of the particles, and the processing of key variables to determine each particle fraction, and are presented as an analysis of the particle size or size sample and / or hydrophobicity. |
